Camp Roberts is celebrating 67 years of dedicated service by hosting an Open House on Saturday, May 3rd from 10 am to 3 pm. The event offers displays of military vehicles, a kids corner, information booths and fun for the whole family! The Camp Roberts Museum will be open, students from Lillian Larsen will perform and Jacob's Ladder will provide live music. *Click here for a detailed flyer or contact SFC Kevin Hall at 805-238-8447. Bring your hungry family to enjoy a BBQ top sirloin dinner for an $8.00 donation with hot dog dinners for $3.00. Pre-sale tickets are available at the Heritage Oaks Bank in San Miguel or Coast National Bank in Paso Robles. A $5 donation will buy a Mega Draw ticket for a chance to win from a long list of valuable prizes donated by local businesses. A hot air balloon ride is one of the bigger prizes! Proceeds from the BBQ and Mega Draw will benefit the San Miguel Resource Connection's music and art program for local kids and downtown economic development projects. All vehicles must have current registration, insurance and a drivers licensed to enter the base. |

The newest business to open in San Miguel is the Dollar Plus Store at 1470 Mission St. by owners Janice and Steve Pivo. The shop is open Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 7 pm and on Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm. Over 2,000 homes in and around San Miguel will get a store coupon in the Clipper Coupon mailer this week for a discount on the already low prices on the amazing variety of items sold at the new shop. Health and beauty aids, novelty and party items, a hardware section, baby essentials, candy, snacks, beverages, cleaning and kitchen supplies, and items to celebrate the holidays with Mother's Day, Father's Day and Grad themed gifts on the shelves. | San Miguel Lions are BBQing chicken with all the trimmings for dine in or take out dinner this Friday, May 2nd from 5:00 to 7:30 pm for $8 each. Follow the signs in town to the San Miguel Community Center next to the Library on 13th and alleyway between K and L streets. Proceeds benefit the many programs of the Lions Club founded in 1949: Community FREE swimming, Old Timers BBQ, NRA Hunter Safety, The Great AGventure Day, White Cane Days, FREE Red Cross Swimming Lessons, student eye screening, Project Lifesaver transmitter bracelets, and much more! |

The Estrella War Birds flew overhead to start the 20th Annual Sagebrush Days Parade on April 26th! Parade entries included fire engines, military vehicles from Camp Roberts, classic cars, the Sheriff's Posse, the Sagebrush Fillies, rocking country music from The Ranch float, Heritage Oaks Bank group and numerous walking entries. The parade is hosted by the Friends of the San Miguel Library working with the San Miguel Native Sons, the San Miguel Fire Dept. and the San Miguel Resource Connection. San Miguel School Superintendent Dean Smith and parade coordinator Mary Kalvans announced the parade entries from the emcee booth as they passed along Mission Street. The San Miguel Volunteer Firefighters hosted a tri-tip BBQ in front of the fire station after the parade. The parade was at risk to be held this year as for the first time a significant fee was to be imposed for a CHP officer to be on duty. Historically, San Miguel parade organizers have had very little money to work with and have relied heavily on volunteers; with the Native Sons of the Golden West handling road closure duties. The new costs threatened the continuation of both the Sagebrush and Christmas Parades in San Miguel. The problem was presented to Supervisor Harry Ovitt's office and they were able to identify a different section of the Vehicle Code that spoke more directly to parades. In that section of the code, the use of volunteers is an available option if the County adopted an appropriate enabling resolution. Negotiations on that basis allowed the CHP to reconsider their original position and to agree to San Miguel's continued use of volunteers. To see more photos from the parade click here. |

The Ranch owners, Marty and Sheila Elisararras gave an exclusive preview of their plans to open a live country western music band venue, mircro brewery and steak house in downtown San Miguel. |
