Soldier from San Miguel serves in Afghanistan |

Major Charles Jarvis of the Roughriders in Afghanistan |
Military personnel from San Miguel and Camp Roberts visit Discover San Miguel to get news from home. One such soldier contacted us to thank us for our website and sent us news of his service on the other side of the world.
Major Charles Jarvis stated, "I work here mentoring the Afghan National Army (ANA). If you would have told me a year ago I would be fighting along side the ANA as they fight for a secure Afghanistan I would have given you a "Are you crazy" response. But now I am proud to say that I have fought along side my Afghan brothers and their fight for a secure country". |

Major Jarvis is pictured above with his ANA leadership in a flight to another Forward Operating Base (FOB) to see
how a US Brigade Support Battalion operates.
The Roughriders serve with the Embedded Transition Team
5th Kandak, 1st Brigade, 203rd ANA Corps at Camp Clark in Afghanistan.
Jarvis reminded us of the importance of support from home as he stated, "Please pray for the safety of all US forces all around the world
who are away from loved ones and fighting along side America's sons and
daughters."
Letters of encouragement and care packages are most welcomed by soldiers serving far from home. One simple way to send a letter of thanks is through Say Thanks.com or Any Soldier.com.
