Community Support Center
and Health Clinic

San Miguel Support Center meeting
A luncheon and information meeting at Casa San Miguel
The San Miguel Community Support Center partnered with the Community Health Centers clinic at Casa San Miguel to host an informational luncheon to introduce their services to community leaders on January 12th.  The support program is funded by the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation partering with the San Miguel Resource Connection and Community LINK.
A large group of community leaders enjoyed a delicious lunch made by Mission Market & Deli with homemade cookies by Steve Kalar.  Attendees introduced themselves with brief descriptions of their respective organizations.
Steve Kalar and Jan Maitzen of LINK presented the resources and services of the Community Support Center.  A family advocate is dedicated to working with local residents to facilitate health, counseling, and social services.
The Community Health Center aka CHC, provides on site nurses, physicians assistants, and doctors, to address the health needs of residents whether or not they have health insurance. The clinic can provide medication, exams, and quality treatment. Dentistry, pediatrics, health education, chronic disease management, and OB/GYN services are available through the CHC clinics.

San Miguel Electric
Light Parade

The Grinch
"The Grinch visits San Miguel with the Who People" by Cagliero Ranch and friends
A large crowd gathered to enjoy the 18th Annual San Miguel Electric Light Parade on December 19th. Parade entries were lit with the parade starting at 5:30 pm in downtown San Miguel. The Craft Bazaar and food booths started at 2 pm next to the fire station.  Kids were invited to meet Santa at the Christmas party held at the San Miguel Fire Station immediately following the parade.
Mission Sweets
"Mission Sweets" entry by Heritage Oaks Bank, Mission Market & Deli and Casillas Construction
High Gear Ranch
"Buggy Christmas" by High Gear Ranch
District One Supervisor Frank Mecham aided by Jani Meyers of the San Miguel Resource Connection announced the parade entries as they streamed past the announcer's station in front of The Ranch Honkey Tonk.
Those lining the parade route on Mission street got to enjoy seeing the parade TWICE as the entrants turned around by Mission San Miguel and came back to their starting point. Ruth Elvin wrote a poem inspired by this fact called, "Twice Down Mission Street" which was read to the crowd by Supervisor Mecham.
Doggy Express
"Doggy Express North Pole or Bust" entry by Gib and Laverne Buckman
Christmas bazaar
A Christmas Bazaar was held next to the fire station before and after the parade.
Native Daughters booth
Native Daughters of the Golden West had a booth at the bazaar as well as a lighted float in the parade.
Christmas caroling
Carolers at the fire station while children waited in line to meet Santa
The San Miguel Volunteer Firefighters worked diligently to make the event fun, safe and run smoothly. The Firefighters chauffeured Santa by fire truck in the parade and later hosted Santa to meet local children at a special Christmas party at the fire station after the parade.  Special thanks go to Fire Chief Roland Snow for facilitating planning meetings and overseeing the overall event to make this our best Electric Light Parade yet!
working the barricades
Volunteers work to barricade the parade route along Mission St
Numerous volunteers worked the street closure and barricades to make the parade possible, representing the Native Sons of the Golden West San Miguel Parlor, San Miguel Volunteer Firefighters, and the San Miguel Lions.
San Miguel Flouring Mill and The Ranch Honkey Tonk provided the announcer's stand.
Special thanks go to Kathleen Carpenter for organizing the Bazaar, and to Craig Rambo and Mary Kalvans for lending their past experience to the event.
The Electric Light Parade and Christmas Bazaar were sponsored by Friends of the San Miguel Library, San Miguel Volunteer Firefighters, Native Sons of the Golden West, San Miguel Lions Club, and the San Miguel Resource Connection.

Mission Burger and Coffee Station
Cozied up in San Miguel is the North County’s best kept secret... a quaint coffee/ burger/ sandwich station.
Burgers and tri-tip meats are cooked over flaming oak logs producing flavor unequaled elsewhere. Our customers tell us our linguica sandwiches are tops. Homemade pasta and potato salads offer a relief from greasy fried sides.
We offer a wide range of coffees including espressos, breakfast sweets, and a very popular egg burrito.
P.S. Please don’t tell your Paso friends about us, our production is limited and we prefer to remain local.
