The San Miguel Community Services District [CSD] Board of Directors recently adopted resolutions honoring two of the community's volunteer firefighters.
The resolutions, adopted during the board's regular meeting held on Thursday, Jan. 28, honored San Miguel Fire Apparatus Engineer Kenneth Smith as firefighter of the year for 2009 and volunteer firefighter Gilbert Celedon for meritorious action while off duty at a traffic collision encountered while he was going to work.

According to a media release, Celedon took quick action by crawling into a vehicle and established an airway on a trapped victim and continued to provide aid until the arrival of paramedics and other firefighters. The Board also welcomed three new volunteer firefighters to the District and the Fire Department. - Paso Robles Press Staff report

Natural Childbirth at Twin Cities Hospital
New labor tub at Twin Cities Hospital
If you’re having a baby or planning to someday, Twin Cities Community Hospital is the best place to welcome your new addition to the world. It is our mission to provide quality patient care focusing on individuality, compassion, safety, and respect. The Obstetrical Services at Twin Cities offers a natural and comforting atmosphere for the birth of your child in the security of a hospital setting.
If a natural childbirth is what you’re looking for, we have many alterative amenities for use during labor from soaking in a warm labor tub during labor to hydrotherapy in a warm running private shower. We have aromatherapy oils for massage, and soothing scents to add to the labor tub or room air as desired. CD players are available to listen to your favorite relaxing music. Birthing balls and labor birth beds allow physiologic positioning throughout labor and birth.
We are the only hospital in San Luis Obispo County to offer all private rooms and we encourage the father or the support person to stay overnight with the mother. We value the importance of couplet care, which keeps mom and baby together during their stay to support bonding. We have lactation educators on staff for breastfeeding support. A nurse is assigned to care for the mother and newborn 24 hours a day.
We offer free educational classes to our delivering families to prepare them for that special day and the care needed for newborns after the birth.
We will listen to our patients, meet their needs, requests and provide professional guidance for positive birth outcomes. The most valuable amenity we have is the warm, friendly, caring, nurturing staff. We all feel it is a phenomenal experience to share in, support and be apart of this life changing event. There is nothing more miraculous than the birth of a child. - submitted by Shareen Taylor, Director of Perinatal Services

Cozied up in San Miguel is the North County’s best kept secret... a quaint coffee/ burger/ sandwich station. Burgers and tri-tip meats are cooked over flaming oak logs producing flavor unequaled elsewhere. Our customers tell us our linguica sandwiches are tops. Homemade pasta and potato salads offer a relief from greasy fried sides.
We offer a wide range of coffees including espressos, breakfast sweets, and a very popular egg burrito.
P.S. Please don’t tell your Paso friends about us, our production is limited and we prefer to remain local. Open 7am to 7 pm every day except Sunday. 1199 Mission St.
