2017 San Miguel Lynda Stamp Community Scholarship Recipient

Congratulations  to Imelda Aguilar for being awarded the Lynda Stamp Community Scholarship for 2017.  She graduated from Lillian Larsen Elementary school followed by Paso Robles High School.  Next she will be attending  California State University, Stanislaus , where her pursuit is a degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish.

While at Paso Robles High School  she was involved in the AVID program and  in Link Crew.   Through these programs she helped incoming freshmen, especially those with English as their second language.  She helped them adjust to high school and was that someone to turn to for help and direction.  Of her required 18 hours of community service required, she completed 209.   At the same time she was learning how much she enjoys helping others.  This was a big factor in her career choice.

The Lynda Stamps Community Scholarship Committee had many applicants for the award, but was very pleased to present the 2017 award to Imelda.  The photo is of Imelda receiving her award.

The San Miguel Lynda Stamp Scholarship Committee would like to thank you for your support and generosity.  The willingness to give in this community is greatly appreciated.  If more funds are received than needed for one scholarship perhaps we can offer two scholarships next time.  We certainly have more qualified applicants.  Please help spread the word of this scholarship so we can help and encourage other upcoming PRHS seniors who graduated from Lillian Larsen (with at least 4 years attendance) by awarding the Lynda Stamps Community Scholarship.  Contact Susan Johnson , ssushj@aol.com if you’d like to donate or become a committee member.

It is truly remarkable when a community can come together to provide such an amazing opportunity for our students.  Post-secondary education and training is more important now than it has ever been and we are truly blessed to have supportive community members like you to give our students the “pat on the back” they need to encourage them to do what so few are doing.

Thank you for helping to make a big difference in the lives of our youth.

Many need financial assistance to help them be able to continue their education past high school.
You can help:   The preference is that you make the check  payable to "Lynda Stamps Community Scholarship Committee"  and MAIL donations to

Lillian Larsen School will celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday on Monday, March 2.

Students in Grades K - 5 will enjoy a morning of guest readers who will read a vast variety of stories to them.  Every 20 minutes, students will have a new reader.  The activities will begin at 8:45 and end at 11:40.

Read Across America

You're never too old, too wacky, too wild,
To pick up a book and read with a child.
You're never too busy, too cool, or too hot,
To pick up a book and share what you've got.

In schools and communities,
Let's gather around,
Let's pick up a book,
Let's pass it around.
There are kids all around you,

Kids who will need
Someone to hug,
Someone to read.
Come join us March 2nd
Your own special way
And make this America's
Read to Kids Day.

Lillian Larsen School wants your
Boxtops!   You can support your local school by clipping the "box tops" off items you purchase and turning them in to the school office or give them to a student who lives near you for their classroom collection.  The goal is $1000 and they already have $129.   Here's an easy opportunity to help!  Save those box tops!

  • San Miguel Joint Union School District had a new principal on Wednesday, January 14th Eighth grader Carlos Vargas purchased the opportunity to be Principal for a Day

  • at Lillian Larsen Elementary School at the 5th grade Science Camp Silent Auction in December.  Vargas reported to duty, greeted his office staff, headed to the playground for yard duty, helped in kindergarten and ordered some new supplies for middle school as some of his duties.  Here, Superintendent Dr. Curt Dubost congratulates Vargas on a job well done.
